Idea of the English House -New, fun, and creative way of learning English together with people There are some methods students frequently don’t try for learning English but we believe it is worth trying. It could be reading 100 books every day or memorizing all new words from newspapers. They both could be the answer. However, we are going to introduce a different answer. “English Learning” Meet new people 2. Job opportunity 3. Get information We think these are four prominent benefits of English learning. You can travel and meet people from all over the world.Perhaps, you will work in a foreign country. Third, You can collect information which is not offered in Japanese. Strategies of English Learning Input  →text books, vocabulary books, music, movies, dramas Patience Alright, we have many strategy to choose for learning English. Today, we will discuss three of them that we think very important to consider, Input, Output and Autonomy and difficulties involved with them. Now we will take a closer look at these three strategies. The first one is input. You can utilize input by studying books and watching movies as well as dramas. Some people think it is fun. On the other hand, others feel it is difficult. *Alright, There are many strategies for learning English. →Alright, when students learn English, we have many strategy to choose. *Today, we will discuss three of them, Input, Output, and Autonomy and difficulties involved with them. → Today, we will discuss three of them, that we think very important to consider, Input, Output and Autonomy and difficulties involved with them. Strategies of English Learning Output  →Communication, presentation Courage Next, we will look at output. Learners can engage in output when they are in free conversation class, at international exchange parties, or in any situation when they speak in their target language. But again, some people feel it is uncomfortable to expose themselves to those circumstances. Confidence

Strategies of English Learning Autonomy  (Take control over your English learning)  →Plan, Do, Review, Evaluation sense of ... Let’s take a look at Autonomy. This is the setting of learning goals or taking initiative for planning and evaluating effectiveness. To be a self-directed learners, students need to understand themselves and continue trying. Otherwise, it is difficult for them to learn English effectively. So students who have low-autonomy struggled sometimes. Determination Self-understanding Readiness

The English House If we go back to our introduction, we claimed that there are some methods students frequently don’t try for learning English we believe it is worth trying. Our answer to this problem is Group learning with English House because it can be a solution to all difficulties involved with Input, Output and Autonomy !

Proposal of English House If we have group of people who ・Talk with you about your English learning ・Have other perspective of English learning ・Try out new strategies of learning ・Create opportunities to use English We propose language learning in a group It would be great for language learners to have a community…Share learning experience with other students and give some advice to each other, create learning strategies to avoid becoming disheartened and encourage English learning, organize events for using English. The most important proposal is to become a self-directed learner. Based on these proposals, ・Motivate you to become a self-directed learner

What’s English House? Goals and Ambitions ・Have fun with learning English ・Stimulate each other’s desire to improve ・Learn English through self-initiative We started to design English House. At first, students who have similar ambitions gathered, and we considered setting up the goals of English House. Learn English through self- initiative, Stimulate each other’s desire to improve. and Have fun with learning English

Details of English House 1. Weekly meeting for planning 2. Two or Three workshops in a week 3. Monthly English Cafe 4. One big event in a semester These are what we are planning to do as English house! We are preparing to start this community officially from next April. Today, we would like to focus on one of the activities, English Café.

English Cafe Policy “Encounter people who use English Enjoy communicating with them in English” Contents Ice breaker 2. Free talking time We would like to hold a monthly English café. The significant purpose of this activity is to try communicating with people in English. We will also prepare some resources to help stimulate communication. → Topic cards and board games

Group learning for yourself Today, I’m going to learn ××!! Self-sustaining learning Self-directed learning In the end, learners will build their English by using English House, where self-directed learners gather and do various activities for English learning, however, please do not forget it is very important that English is not improved automatically just by participating in the activities. Students need to realize why they want to join English House, so that they can use it effectively. If you are interested in English House, please come and join us !!!!
