ESCOLA SECUNDÁRIA D. FILIPA DE LENCASTRE Our School F ounded in 1928, our school had several premises until the present building was erected in a central residential area – Bairro do Arco do Cego – and named Liceu Nacional Dona Filipa de Lencastre in T he construction was designed by architect Jorge Segurado according to a specific pedagogical architecture commonly used in those days: a big quadrilateral structure with a rounded façade built around a playground. Inside, the walls of its harmonious hall are covered with soft pink marble.

O riginally a feminine school, it has been co-educational since 1974 and its name was subsequently changed to Escola Secundária Dona Filipa de Lencastre. I t is located in an area of tertiary activities and some of its students come from the outer city suburbs.
