Ask patient to void Can patient void? no no POST VOID BLADDER SCAN BLADDER SCAN #2 Notify provider Reassess in 2 hrs ≤ 300 mL > 300 mL Notify provider of results Continue to monitor Obtain order for straight cath q6-8 hrs until bladder function returns Consider IUC only if patient can’t tolerate or if with urethral trauma Consider urology consult for retention of unknown etiology
