In the year to Aug 18 FHN had 388 applications related to Homelessness, these come from every area of the country and it is an increasing trend. G has been homeless for over 2 years now after making some poor choices following the deaths of his adoptive parents. Her asylum claim was turned down and she was made homeless. i recently became homeless due to rent arrears because my ESA was payment pending a medical after going from the 13,june to ,21aug till them i was left with nothing Photo by Jon Tyson on Unsplash

It can be difficult to work out the number of people sleeping rough for a number of reasons. People bed down at different times, move about, and can be hidden away in derelict buildings. However, each year every local authority in England does estimate or count the number of people sleeping rough in their area. https://www.homeless.org.uk/sites/default/files/site-attachments/Homeless%20Link%20-%20analysis%20of%20rough%20sleeping%20statistics%20for%20England%202017.pdf

The reasons for homelessness can be many and varied https://www.homeless.org.uk/sites/default/files/site-attachments/Statutory%20Homelessness%20Q1%202018%20Analysis.pdf

It does not only affect individuals, families are also affected: but being without a home – does not always make you statutorily homeless: Between 1 January and 31 March 2018 The total number of households making an application was 7% lower at 26,400 52% of applicants were accepted by local authorities as owed the main homelessness duty. 4,460 people were found not to be in priority need, representing 17% of the total statutory case load. The number of households in temporary accommodation was79,880, representing a 3% increase from last year.

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission You can respond to our calling and help the homeless by supporting The Methodist Fund for Human Need Our payments to the homeless are used on food, toiletries and even sleeping bags, they also provide emergency accommodation and a night or two off the streets.
