After the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 After the successful Pueblo Uprising of 1680 the Spanish abandoned New Mexico leaving herds of horses behind. These horses became wild and began to run in herds across the West like buffalo. The horse spread from tribe to tribe and changed the lives of tens of thousands of Native Americans.

Vocabulary Pueblo Uprising of 1680: Pueblo Indians rebelled against the Spanish in New Mexico and won. Horse Revolution: The spread of the horse across the West, which changed the way of life for many Native Americans.
