Where did HIV and AIDS come from? One of the earliest documented HIV infections was found in a preserved blood sample in 1959 from a man named Leopoldville in Belgian Congo It has believed to have originated in Africa
How are HIV and AIDS contracted? HIV is an STD (sexually transmitted disease) It is spread through sexual intercourse and using some medical equipment, like sharing needles It can also be transmitted from mother to child
