Expectations: Children are expected to bring reading books and records in everyday. Every child is challenged or challenging themselves to achieve the best outcomes possible. Behaviour remains at an exemplary standard at all times. Being at School before 8:55.

Curriculum: Our Topic this term is Neil Armstrong and the moon landing. Things to look forward to: Visit from the space planetarium Space Day Show and Share

Homework: Homework sheets will be stuck into your child’s contact book. Homework is moving online. Children should be reading at home at least 4 days a week. We have brought back the ‘Termly Family Task’. This will be related to the topic we are exploring. Additionally, Year 2 will be given a list of spelling to practise relating to the spelling rules they have been exploring in class.

Reading and Phonics: Year 1 children will be continuing their Read, Write Ink learning from Birch class. Year 2 children will be engaging in guided reading sessions alongside ESPG sessions in the mornings. Your child will engage with a range of texts and learn key comprehensive skills. Reading with your child (and a wide range of texts).

Assessments throughout the year Year 1: The Phonics Screening (June 2019) Year 2: End of Key Stage 1 SATs (May 2019) Please do not worry about these assessments. There will be evenings that you will be able to attend that will go into more details about these assessments.

Rewards and Sanctions: Everybody at St Paul’s believes in praising positive behaviour and hard work.

PE and Forest School: The children will have PE on a Tuesday and Wednesday. PE kit should be kept in school. Winter months. Wellies and a change of clothes for Tuesdays.
