Human Resources Mission Vision To exceed customer expectations To promote equitable policies and practices To provide guidance on human resource decisions in support of the University’s mission Vision As an active voice in the strategic decisions that guide the University toward achieving its goals, Human Resources will deliver services that encourage and support the success of the University and the members of its community.

UK as an Employer – FY 16 174,119 job applications 9,455 total hires 2,125 of those are regular staff and faculty Others include: Student employees (4,000) Temporary and STEPS (900) On-call/per diem nurses and health care providers (400) Part-time instructors/temporary faculty (300) Medical residents (200) Athletic camp workers (200) Employees in all 120 counties in Kentucky

Commitment to Salary Increases

$10/hr Minimum Starting Rate The starting minimum wage for regular employees at UK prior to July 1, 2015, was $7.54 per hour. UK Board of Trustees approved a new $10 per hour minimum starting rate, effective July 1, 2015. The goal is to offer a more competitive entry pay rate to enhance the University's ability to recruit and retain employees.

Staff Leadership Training & Development Programs SuperVision: Series of 14 mandatory sessions designed to equip newly hired and promoted supervisors with the skills and knowledge to manage people and functions effectively at the University Essential Leader Program: Series of 22 certificate-eligible courses to help employees learn key leadership skills Participants have a two-year period in which to complete the series and are not required to be in a supervisory position Experienced Leader Academy: Based on Developing the Leader Within You by John Maxwell, this 11-week program is designed to support experienced managers in maximizing their leadership potential by reading and participating in a facilitated discussion of one chapter per week

Additional Training & Development Programs Professional development: Designed to strengthen job performance, build leadership capabilities, and foster personal and professional growth Technology training: Instructor-led courses on the Adobe and Microsoft suites of products to enhance technological advancements in the workplace Unconscious Bias Awareness: Training for faculty and staff to raise awareness of unconscious biases and learn how to mitigate the impact 11,959 participants in training programs last year

Unconscious Bias Training Beginning spring 2016, Unconscious Bias Awareness training sessions have been facilitated for: – Members of the Board of Trustees  – Senior administrative and academic leaders – Faculty and staff  Total trained to date = 5,864 Anticipate 10,000 trained by end of December 2017 467 managers in UK HealthCare also received training to mitigate bias in the selection process Campus offerings coming soon
