Glandular Epithelium Composed of cells that are specialized to produce and secrete substances into ducts or into body fluids. Such cells are usually found within columnar or cuboidal epithelium & one or more cells make up a gland.
1. Endocrine secretions produced by ductless glands into blood or other fluids. Hormones
2. Exocrine secretions discharged through duct onto internal/external surface. Unicellular -called mucus or goblet cell Multicellular -sweat glands, salivary glands, etc.
Structural Types of Exocrine Glands Simple: communicates with surface with an un-branched duct Compound: branched duct
