“Grace is knowing when to leave…” Problem A WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS “Grace is knowing when to leave…” Washington stepped down after two terms (until 1796). All future presidents (except one) have followed this precedent.

Problem B WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington set up a cabinet: a group of people who advise the president.

What makes an effective cabinet member?

What classroom cabinet positions would help to make our class/school operate smoothly?

Problem C WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington decided to remain neutral: he didn’t side with either country. The U.S. was still a young, weak nation, and could not afford to get involved in another war.

Problem D WASHINGTON’S PRECEDENTS Washington led an army of 12,000 to Pennsylvania and quickly stopped the Whiskey Rebellion. This showed the strength of the new government.

What is Domestic Policy? Policies that affect our country (laws, taxes, government programs, healthcare, etc.) (Domestic = Home)

Exit Card Choose ONE of the precedents created by President Washington and explain whether you think that it is a good example for future presidents after Washington to follow.
