Figure 2 Immunohistochemical analysis of the expression of p300. In all IBD samples (representative image of CD shown in A), p300 protein was clearly seen in cells in the lamina propria, with strong nuclear staining. Figure 5 Representative proximal colons from 70-week-old male mice. There is a marked histologic difference between (A) C3Bir.Il10-/- and (B) B6.Il10-/- mice. The C3Bir.Il10-/- mice develop ulceration (center, A) associated with marked acute inflammation and exudation, as well as epidermal hyperplasia with inflammation within the lamina propria in adjacent regions. In contrast, B6.Il10-/- mice are frequently free of lesions in this region. The sample from the CB-R1 stock (C), in which the genetic interval containing Cdcs1 from C3Bir was replaced with the B6 resistant allele, has no disease phenotype. (D) In contrast, the sample from the reciprocal congenic BC-R1 stock, in which the B6-resistant Cdcs1 allele was replaced with the C3Bir colitis susceptibility allele, has severe (D) ulcerative and hyperplastic colon lesions.
