EDDI2016 Esra Akdeniz, Wolfgang Zenk-Möltgen 06.12.2016 Creating a DDI-Lifecycle based Metadata Schema for the GESIS Data Archive EDDI2016 Esra Akdeniz, Wolfgang Zenk-Möltgen 06.12.2016

„DDILimDas“ “Use of DDI-Lifecycle at the GESIS Data Archive” internal project at the GESIS Data Archive project duration: two years (01/2015-12/2016) Main objectives: Change products, projects and processes at DAS from DDI-C as documentation and archiving format to DDI-L Harmonization Facilitation Reusability Harmonization (of preliminary work done in different projects at DAS so far) Facilitation (of a consistent and coordinated future DDI management) (focus on) Reusability (in GESIS)

Outcome Development of… a metadata schema for all use cases in the data archive in the DDI-L format recommendations for all existing tools within Gesis DAS

Tools Missy= metadata at the study and variable level as well as reports and tools for data handling and analysis DBK= Study Descriptions (Primary data from survey research, historical social research and texts for content analyses) CBE= Context level information for a customized selection of variables ( Topics & context, Panel & context, Scales & context, Time integration & context, Space integration & context, User & context) CharmStats =precise and transparent documentation of harmonization of variables DSDM = to document a dataset of a cross-section or comparative survey on variable level da|ra = Registration agency for social and economic data Datorium = self-archiving tool Stardat = Data Archiving Suite (includes all functions of DBK on study level to describe studies, includes functions of DSDM on variable level, includes functions of CBE on context level, includes functions to generate reports, includes self-archiving (datorium), includes functions zu generate versions and documentation about errata)
