Approprite Vaccine Site Intramuscular Injections Birth-4 years IM- Vastus lateralis Needle size IM - Birth to 5months in VL- 5/8in. Needle size IM- 6month to 4 years in VL- 1in. 4years-6years IM (depending on wt. of child)- Deltoid with needle size 5/8in. 7years and older IM (depending on wt. of child) - Deltoid with 1in. Needle Subcutaneous Injections Give in back of arms or in thighs using a TB syringe.
