“Prepare for sharing” The Accessibility Checker checks your file against a set of possible issues for people who have disabilities might experience in your file. Each issue is classified as an Error, Warning, or Tip. Error An error is for content that makes a file very difficult or impossible for people with disabilities to understand. Warning A warning is for content that in most, but not all, cases makes a file difficult for people with disabilities to understand. Tip A tip is for content that people with disabilities can understand, but that might be better organized or presented in a way that would improve their experience 4/4/2019

Save as Daisy Word An add-in for Microsoft Office Word 2010 helps you produce accessible documents for people who have visual disabilities. You can select to generate the DAISY XML for further processing, or you can create a fully conforming DAISY file set with full navigation and full text synchronized with audio. The audio is generated by the default text-to-speech (TTS) engine on your Windows computer. http://www.daisy.org/project/save-as-daisy-microsoft-word-add-in 4/4/2019

Applications 4/4/2019

Building Accessible Apps Developer platform and tools shipped for Windows 8 support making an accessible app through every step of the development process: Creating: When creating a project using one of the project templates from Visual Studio Express, the code is accessibility-ready. This means that you can immediately use it with a screen reader (Narrator), it is fully usable with a keyboard, it works well in High Contrast mode, and it is visually accessible for text contrast and color. Coding: During coding of an app, there is additional support offered by the platform and tools: Use Visual Studio Express IntelliSense to type accessibility attributes quickly and declare accessibility information in the markup. Accessibility support is built into the Windows 8 controls. In most cases, all you need to do is define a good accessible name. Dev Center guidelines and samples to learn best practices and copy/paste accessible code. Testing: use the Windows SDK accessibility testing tools to validate the markup. Selling: Once the app is complete, if it meets the baseline accessibility scenarios, you can declare it as accessible during the Windows Store publishing process by selecting the Accessibility check box. This will allow users looking for accessible apps to easily find them in the Store. 4/4/2019
