Figure 101 Drawing of a Mouse Embryo The embryo is shown at the stage when axons are starting to grow from the trigeminal ganglion (TG) to the maxillary (Mx) and mandibular (Md) processes. The collagen gel coculture paradigm is shown in which directed axonal growth is observed from the trigeminal ganglion to explants of its targets but not to explants of inappropriate cutaneous targets, such as the forelimb bud (LB) or the hyoid process (H).
