Llangattock School Visit to Sealyham 22nd -25th May 2018 Mrs J Jones Mrs C Jackson Mrs K Corlett

The Aims of Sealyham To provide physical and emotional challenges through a medium of outdoor activities, so that people may discover more about themselves and gain in self-confidence. To increase initiative, independence, interdependence and self discipline through cooperation and trust in different environments and shared living conditions. To encourage pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds, power of observations, logical thought and communication. To encourage the development of moral and spiritual values and the will to base life and behavior upon them. To equip pupils with skills, knowledge and attitude which will help them to live their lives as, self respecting and competent individuals, able to make informed and reasoned choices for themselves, having regard to the needs of others. To motivate pupils to use their leisure time enjoyably and purposefully.

Itinerary Tuesday 22nd May- Departure The coach will arrive at Llangattock School at 9:15am for a 9:30am departure. The children will need a snack(no nuts please) and a drink . Arrive at Sealyham Outdoor Education Centre at approximately 12 noon, have lunch and commence activities. Friday 25th May- Return Leave Sealyham at approximately 12.30pm, travel to St David’s and return to Llangattock School at approximately 6pm.

Our Activities We will be participating in the following activities: Archery/Orienteering Assault Course Surfing Climbing High Ropes Canoeing/Kayaking Coasteering Due to weather, lack of surf etc, the activities can be subject to change and this is decided by Sealyham staff.

Activities Archery – This activity takes place in the grounds of the centre. There are three target bosses ready to train potential Robin Hoods. Surfing – will take place on one of the Pembrokeshire beaches. Wetsuits will be provided. High ropes – This takes place on a course in the woodlands next to the centre. Assault Course – commando style assault course, prepare to get wet and muddy! Coasteering - Abbreiddy is a perfect location for it, safe, accessible and beautiful! We also use another location near St David’s. Canoeing - Canoeing can be a relaxing paddle around a sheltered lake, an exciting paddle along the beautiful coastline or an enjoyable paddle along the Cleddau estuary Climbing – you get to experience abseiling and climbing safely, in beautiful locations

Bedtime! Tiredness is not good on a school trip so following dinner and an evening activity led by Sealyham instructors the children will be going to bed at an appropriate time, with corridors supervised by staff. The children will share a bedroom with other children in their year group and will be organised by school staff with consideration to friendship groups.

Sample Menu Breakfast – Cereal, toast, bacon, hash browns, tomatoes. Packed lunch is made after breakfast, before the first activity. The children make their own sandwiches from a wide choice of fillings. They are also given a bag of crisps and a piece of fruit. Drinking bottles can be filled with a choice of squashes and water.
