Manipulating Sig Figs - Notes B Sc 3200 Manipulating Sig Figs - Notes B

RECAP: Entrance Card Use your notes A if you need to! Submit when you have the work complete!

Sig Figs - Notes B Once you know what figures are significant there are two (2) sets of rules to obey! (when manipulating numbers in calculations) One for ADDING (+) & SUBTRACTING (-) One for MULTIPLYING (x) & DIVIDING (÷)

When Adding or Subtracting You just need to note the number of the measurements. The answer will go by the least accurate measurement!

When Multiplying or Dividing You need to count the sig figs in each number. The end result will have the same number of sig figs as he number with the LEAST amount of sig figs used to start.

Scientific Notation When a number is too big or too small to write any sig figs we used scientific notation!
