Objectives In this revision lesson, we shall cover the following topics: Solving Linear Equations Constructing and Solving Equations Linear Inequalities Simultaneous Equations

Solving Linear Equations An equation is a statement showing the equality of two expressions. To solve linear inequalities, use the balance method where you bring ‘like’ terms to one side: 4x+3=4 4x=4-3 4x=1 x=1/4 3x+2=14 3x=14-2 3x=12 X=4 3x+2= 2x+6 3x-2x=6-2 X=4 3(x+1)+3=2x-4 3x+3+3=2x-4 3x-2x=-3-3-4 X=-10 x/4 + 3= 8 x/4=8-3 x/4= 5 X=5*4 X=20

Who will answer this? 4x x+6 The perimeter of the rectangle above is 48cm. A) Form an equation for the perimeter of the rectangle B) Solve the equation to find the length and width of the rectangle 4x x+6

Who will answer these? The sum of two consecutive even numbers is 226. What are the numbers? A triangle has the perimeter 6xcm. The lengths of the sides of the triangle are x, x+2, x+4. Find the equation relating to the perimeter of the triangle. Solve the equation and hence find the length of each side.

For the rest, I have made a video.
