TrashketBall Module 5 – Area review

Teacher Information Divide students into small teams. One person on each team will be the score keeper, and one will be the runner. The runner takes the team’s answers to the teacher. You will need a large container/trash can and a small ball or bean bag. Set up the can and then tape off 3 lines at varying distances that the students will stand at to toss the ball/bean bag. Students will see one round of problems at a time. After each round, the students shoot and tally their score. The winning team can be awarded a prize if desired.

Rules for the Game With your group members, solve each problem. Send the designated person to the teacher to get the answers checked. If you have something incorrect, go back to your team and fix it. Return to the teacher with your corrections. The first team with all the problems in the round correct will get three shots. The second team will get two shots, and the third team will get one shot. There will be three shooting lines: closest line = 1 point, second line = 2 points, farthest line = 3 points. The team with the most points by the end of all rounds wins the game.

Round one: Find the area using an area model. 1. 2. 3. 4.
