AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM THE GIFT OF EDUCATION LASTS A LIFETIME

AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ABOUT US AWC Scholarship Program helps underprivileged girls in rural Thailand finish high school by providing scholarships. We are a volunteer-based organization established by the American Women’s Club of Thailand in 1995. We partner with the Education for Development Foundation (EDF). EDF is an education charitable organization operating under the laws of Thailand. It was the winner of the 2012 “Thailand NGO of the Year” for best practices in Resource Mobilization, Accountability, Transparency, and Sustainability.

AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM CHILDREN NOT IN SCHOOL OVER 37% of high school students do not finish secondary education 3 of every 8 high school students will DROP OUT before graduation* Children drop out because of: Poverty Pressure to earn a living to support family Inability to pay for expenses: transportation, school supplies, food, etc. *From a 2016 publication by the Quality Learning Foundation (a foundation established by the Thai Government pursuant to a Decree from the Office of the Prime Minister)

AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM HOW WE HELP We give scholarships to qualified students. Each scholarship costs 6,000 baht (USD 200) per year. Qualifications for scholarship: From rural North, Northeastern, or Central Thailand In grades M4-M6 At least GPA 2.5 An annual household income of less than 50,000 baht. (USD 1,600)

AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ACHIEVEMENTS We have helped more than 8,000 girls graduate from high school since 1995. In 2018, we raised more than 2.4 million baht (USD 77,000) giving 410 girls the chance to finish one more year of high school. We have hosted an annual English Camp since 1999. Gives opportunity to participate in various types of learning activities Gives opportunity to network with other students and foreigners

AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FUNDING DIRECTLY IMPACTS STUDENTS Scholarship Program is funded entirely by voluntary donations Made possible by volunteers who do not receive any salary or compensation Unique program because 5,000 of every 6,000 baht is paid directly to the students* *Remaining 1,000 baht goes towards administrative costs

PROGRAM STRATEGY AWC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM We work year-round to better the lives of our scholarship students. In addition to an education, we believe that creativity and English-language skills are important to a successful future. These activities are funded by independent fundraising events.
