Recap Time Last week’s memory verse Can someone say Matthew 5:3-4? “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4 Can someone say Matthew 5:3-4? “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:3-4

Share Time Last week’s challenge: Ask God to look into the heart of others and understand if they are in need of comfort or not. Not only pray for them, but also let them know because you never know how you could be the only Jesus to them!

Doodle Time “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Matthew 5:5 What does this verse mean to you?

“Blessed…” Why do you think the word “Blessed” is repeated in this passage? What does “Blessed” mean? Steady joy

“…are the meek…” What do you think the word meek means? “Blesses are the gentle for they shall inherit the earth.” (NASB) Definition: mildness of disposition, gentleness of spirit Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” In this verse, who is a greatest example of meekness?

“…are the meek…” Isaiah 41:17 What does this show about God? “The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.” What does this show about God? Meek are those wholly relying on God rather than their own strength to defend

Poor in spirit Result from seeing God “This poverty of spirit is a gracious disposition of soul, by which we are emptied of self, in order to our being filled with Jesus Christ” Mourning Result from seeing self “be real with God and uproot any deep issues you don’t want to bring up when it comes to your faith” Meek Result from seeing task stems from trusting God’s goodness and control over situation

“…for they will inherit the earth” Psalm 22:26 “The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the Lord that seek him: you heart shall live for ever.” It is not by self effort but by spirit effort Holy Spirit produce heart of yielded Christians Goal to be child of God but can’t do it alone “I obey God I do so because at some point in my life I yielded myself to Him” https://utmost.org/yielding/

JQ/Challenge Journal Question Challenge Dive into your quiet time and ask God to guide you yield to Him Challenge Portray/present meekness to those around you. Trust in God’s goodness and control.

WIHP What do you think about the lesson? Is there something God is telling you to do? If so, what? How can we be praying for you? Pray
