Grading Categories Each subject will be divided into the following categories: Assessments and Classwork.   Category Weights We will not set category weights this year. We will use straight averaging (or you could weight each category). Failing Grades Failing grades will be entered into the gradebook as a 50%. However, the earned score will be placed in the public note section in ParentVue. Missing Grades (Absent) If a student is missing an assignment, the assignment will be graded as a zero. After the make-up window closes (the amount of days you are absent equals the same number of days to make up the assignment). (Check ParentVue) Missing Grades (not turned in) If a student does not turn in an assignment, there will a classroom consequence. Retesting * Teachers will determine the proper way to remediate and support students. Retests are allowed. Behavior Consequences in Grades We believe that academic grades reflect academic understanding. No points will be deducted for missing names, etc. These behaviors can be reflected in the behavior/study habits section of the report card. Assignment Grades in Multiple Subjects Individual assignments may be used in multiple subject areas. For example, a social studies project may receive a grade for social studies standards and ELA standards. Number of Grades per Nine Weeks The expectation is nine - fifteen per subject area per nine weeks. (Health may have less.) Homework Homework will not be graded nor entered into the gradebook. Types of Grades We will use percentage grades.

It focuses on the top 1,000 commonly miss spelled words in the English language. Tests are on Friday. The students have a copy of every spelling word they will be tested on this year in their tool box. Math Make sure your child knows their multiplication tables and basic addition & subtraction facts with automaticity Reading We are focusing on writing about our reading Task List Students will have 2-3 weekly assignments that are completed independently. They are responsible for getting the tasks on Monday, completing the tasks throughout the week, and turning them in by Friday.
