Career Development Model OCCUPATIONS Registered Nurse “high-skilled, high-wage, high-demand” PATHWAYS Therapeutic Services Clusters Health Science Represents a Narrowing Process Elementary to Middle to High School and beyond This graphic model represents the Cluster concept whereby students begin to define and re-define career-related choices and selections from a broad CLUSTER to a PATHWAY, to a more SPECIFIC OCCUPATION and advocates appropriate levels of postsecondary education based on the student choices. This model uses the Health Science CLUSTER , narrowed to the PATHWAY, Therapeutic Services, then further narrowed to a specific OCCUPATION, Registered Nurse which requires an Associate Degree at a USG school or techncial college. Other occupations in that pathway might include medical assistant, EMT, pharmacy technician, respiratory therapist just to name a few. At this point you may want to show the National Career Cluster Framework located at http://www.careertech.org/career-clusters/resources/career-frames.html All the clusters are listed. Select your cluster and show the occupations related to that cluster.

Career Development Process 1, 2, 3, as simple as A, B, C Who Am I? Interest, Aptitudes, Values Where Am I Going? Investigation of the world-of-work; Exposure; Experience (Work-based Learning) How Am I Going to Get There? Management to formulate a plan (Individual Graduation Plan) 4/8/2019

Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters Agriculture, Foods & Natural Resources Architecture & Construction Arts, A/V Technology & Communications Business Management & Administration Education & Training Georgia Energy Finance Government & Public Safety Health Science Hospitality & Tourism Human Services Information Technology Law, Public Safety, Corrections & Security Manufacturing Marketing Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Transportation, Distribution & Logistics These are Georgia’s 17 Clusters including Georgia Energy. We are encouraging systems to use the correct terminology with students and their families in the educational and career planning process. Since the ultimate goal for ALL students is to WORK in a career field that fits them and will earn a self-sufficient wage, we are encouraging systems to embrace this new concept---a vision into a child’s future beyond graduation----Dan Hull refers to it as “Education with a purpose”. Pathways represent that vision for a student and their family. CLICK

Career Pathway A career pathway is a coherent, articulated sequence of rigorous academic and career/technical courses, usually beginning in the 9th grade that leads to college and career readiness. Curriculum is the heart of education and career planning---GUIDANCE is the soul. Career pathways represent a coherent, articulated sequence of rigorous academic and career/technical courses, usually beginning in the 9th grade and leads to a diploma, associate degree, baccalaureate degree and beyond The educational and training process from pre-K, to elementary, to middle school, to high school, to postsecondary creates tomorrows work force for your community, Georgia, the U.S and ultimately the world. The essential question is: Are we preparing our young people for their future in the world of work----it takes planning on our part and their part. It is up to us as educators to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes they will need to find their place. It is up to us as educators to provide the OPPORTUNITIES!! CLICK
