Elevator-Escalator Reliability Failure notification

Definition of the Problems/Failures Aging Lift Equipment – 18-20 Years old Poor Contractor Performance Unreliable – 70% downtime Bus bridge expense – 10k yearly Poor communication to customers IE: station signage; media relation communications; etc. Inability to monitor lifting device operations at LRT Stations remotely

Root Causes of the Problems/Failures Poor Contractor Performance – Current Contractor inability to keep Lift equipment working in the most efficient manner Lack of remote monitoring capabilities on lift equipment Poor communication to customers Age of Lift Equipment

Improved Strategies Award of Performance contract with incentives and liquidated damages Installation of the new On-line Remote Monitoring (ORM) Software and Equipment will allow us to utilize predictive maintenance practices and be proactive before equipment goes down Utilization of improved signage at the stations along with communication on all Visual Message Boards (VMB) at LRT Stations will vastly improve Communications to customers Decrease response time on Bus Bridge requirements Capital Project to replace elevator cabs along the Redline.

Progress Evaluation Development of monthly matrix for Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 1500 hours; Mean Time Between Repairs (MTBR) 3.73 hours; and Entrapments no more than 1.75 Reduction in complaints due to equipment failure Reduction in bus bridge

Cost Savings/Reliability of Equipment Approximately $9K Reduction in cost for Bus Bridges Unit Reliability –97.7% Operability of all lift equipment
