-Power up for Learning- 21st Century Skills Contact Information As part of the Gifted program, the students will come to the resource classroom to participate in hands-on activities that address the 4C’s. The 4 C's are critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. During this time, students will work both individually and collaboratively. I have taught gifted for 25 of those years, mostly at the middle school level. This is my first year at Pleasant Grove, and I am so excited to be here! I have two children. My son is a senior at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, and my daughter is in 11th grade at Union Grove High School I have an awesome husband, Ed. I also have two dogs- Buddy and Daisy- who round out my family. I love to travel! This past summer I visited Germany, Belgium, and The Netherlands. I also like to watch sports. I especially like soccer and basketball. Advanced Content Gifted students will receive standards-based ELA and Math instruction in the regular classroom with the addition of Depth of Knowledge and acceleration provided by me. Mrs. Coughlin Pleasant Grove Elementary -Power up for Learning- Goal Setting Students are encouraged to set and monitor goals throughout the school year. The goals will be set with input from the homeroom teacher, the gifted teacher and the student. The goals will be monitored throughout the year to foster student agency. StudentSavvy © 2015

You can drop them by room 108 or label them Gifted and turn in to the homeroom class. Students in K-2 will use iPads and 3-5 will receive Google Chromebooks! Technology will be used in conjunction with a balance of print materials. Logging into school software has gotten a lot easier! Each student has a unique username/email address consisting of his/her student number and the Henry County domain. Example; 123456@henry.k12.ga.us Passwords do not contain capital letters and follow this layout: First Name Initial + Last Name initial + six digit birthdate + hashtag Example: Jamie Smith, born March 25, 2006 Password: js032506# As Gifted Learners We Believe We have gifted minds. We are here to learn. We know it won’t always be easy, but it will always be worth it! We will not stop ourselves or others from learning! The adults in our classroom are here because they love helping kids succeed. We will show respect with our words and actions. We are lucky to have an opportunity to work with a variety of other kids. We all have gifts and struggles. We will support & encourage our classmates with our words and our actions.
