Registration Window and Dates 2/11/19 - Meeting for current 11th grade students (during flight time). 2/12/19 - Meeting for current 10th grade students (during flight time) 2/13/19 - Meeting for current 9th grade students (during flight time) Online registration - opens DAY AFTER class meeting and closes on 3/1/19!

Major changes (2019-20) NIC - National Industry Certification CTE - Career Tech Education sheet (all grade levels) QUEST options DE updates 7AM codes - each 7am course offered has specific code. Choose this code if you plan to take 7am.

Completing Online Registration STEP 2: Carefully select 8 credits and 3 alternates Changes to course selection sheet Current year teachers have made recommendations for next school year. These recommendations can be seen in ASPEN student portal. Complete the online registration process by March 1, 2019. * 8

Directions for Each Section Pay close attention to the directions and important notes for each section on the online portion. These are grade level and subject specific. The instructions provide valuable information that help you make the best decision in selecting courses and prevents disappointment when you are removed from a course when you do not meet requirements. * 9

What is an Alternate? Classes you are willing to take IF you do not get one of your first choice electives. If you have a preference on the order of your alternates, you can rank them. If one of your alternates must be scheduled, we will attempt to schedule them in order of preference. * 17

Completing Online Registration STEP 3: Academic Level Change Request complete form only if you need a level change – must be reviewed by Mrs. Reynolds STEP 4: Review your transcript on ASPEN Make sure you are meeting graduation requirements. Discuss course selections with your parents. * 19

Completing Online Registration STEP 5: Finalize your selections Choose your selections online on or before March 1st @ 3:30 pm in ASPEN Student Portal. Do not worry if you get an error when you try to “Post” your requests. NOTE: No selections submitted means courses will be chosen for you. * 20

Application/Audition Courses* Please refer to the of 2019-2020 Course Catalog (HVA website) for more specific information on these requirements/prerequisites. If you selected one of these classes and you are not chosen for that course, it will be replaced with one of your alternates. Please choose Alternates carefully. ************ * 21

Application/Audition Courses* For courses that require an application, please follow specific instructions on how and where to return the application (ACTS, Peer Tutoring – most are linked within ASPEN) Examples include – Advanced Journalism, ACTS, Peer Tutoring, Senior Portfolio program * 22

Steps to Dual Enrollment Attend Dual Enrollment info meeting held February 27th during Flight time. March 26: apply for DE grant and to Pellissippi for DE during school day (11:30 - 2:00) Attend DE registration meeting on April 16 & 17 after school to register for your class. Register to take the ACT if necessary. Enter PSCC code during pre-gridding Register for course (pstcc.edu/dual). Provide documentation to counselor.                                                                                                             * 23

2/11 – 2/13– course request sheets distributed 2/11 – 3/1– ASPEN online registration is open. Students enter course requests. Late March – Early April – Finalized requests are published. If one of your requested classes is not offered next year (due to lack of other requests), it will be removed from your requests and replaced with an alternate. Schedules are published – TBA (Valleypallooza) – These are based on student requests so changes are limited * 24

Rising Senior Meetings All juniors will have a rising senior meeting with their academy counselor. Updates by Academy Ms. Troutman Mrs. Long Mrs. Quick Mrs. Beeler LA and STEM Endorsement/Sr. Portfolio meeting 2/12/19 - MP Room during flight time

Review When and Where are course selections due? March 1st by 3:30 pm through ASPEN Student Portal YOU WILL NOT TURN IN A SIGNED COURSE REQUEST SHEET!!!!! ALL REQUESTS MUST BE ENTERED INTO ASPEN Help is available through Flight time and after school on Wednesday, Feb 28th from 3:30 – 5:00.
