Morning Arrival 7:00 A.M. - School Opens 7:30- 8:00 - Breakfast in the classroom 7:45 – Tardy Bell It is very important that your child is in class on time. We are one of the fortunate schools that provides breakfast in the classroom, however your child needs to be here on time in order to participate.

Lunch Our lunch time is from 11:47-12:17 We are a “peanut free” school. Please take this into consideration when sending lunches to school. Snack Time: We have a class snack every morning a 10:15. Bulk snacks are accepted all year. A note will go home if we begin to run low.

General Information School hours: 7:45 – 2:57 P.M. Dismissal changes: Any changes in the way your child goes home needs to come in the form of a note or by calling the front office by 2:00. Please don’t leave a voicemail or send and e-mail in case there is a sub on that day. Conference times: 1:15-2:00 (M, W, Th, and Fri). Croc Coupons & Croc Store: Croc Coupons are earned for good behavior seen in halls, cafeteria, morning assemblies, etc. These can be earned by any teacher on the campus. Croc Store is open Mon. – Fri. 7:00- 7:20 a.m. Prime Time: Classes will begin Oct. 3rd and then again in the spring. Brighter Bites: Free Fruits and Veggies to promote healthy eating for Families.

Grading Policies All class work will carry single weight when calculating a student’s nine week grade. Tests and projects may carry double weight. We have a 1- 4 grading scale: 4 = 100 - 95 3 = 95 - 80 2 = 79 - 70 1 = 69 and below 0 = A missing assignment

Discipline * My main goal is to promote positive behaviors. On our Behavior chart we have: Blue: GREAT! I am having a Great day and making Excellent choices! Green: GOOD! I am having a Good Day and doing my work. Yellow: WARNING! I need to check my behavior and make better choices. Red: REFLECTION! and parent conference. I need to discuss with my teacher and parents about my behavior. * Calendar in binder needs to be initialed every night!

STEAM What does STEAM mean? S: Science T: Technology E: Engineering A: Arts M: Math

Reading Your child will be expected to read at least 20 minutes a night. This expectation may change due to the changing needs of the students. There will be a reading log within the homework that will reinforce the skills that are being taught at that time. Please review this log with your child. Reading with your child is a great way to end the day and it helps them increase their reading stamina. This year we will be monitoring your child’s reading progress through several means: Reading groups, Read A-louds, ISIP (reading program that monitors and assesses each student’s reading progress), and through student-to-teacher reading. Reading skills will be taught through direct teaching, centers, and guided reading groups.

Math 1st Grade Math Curriculum: Skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s to 120 Compose and decompose numbers up to 120 Time Place value Money Addition and subtraction with & without word problems Ordering numbers on a number line up to 120 Comparing numbers Shapes (Geometry) Measurement Fractions Graphs

Homework Binders will be sent home daily. Please sign these nightly. These binders will contain behavior for the day, homework, a reading log, a spelling spiral for homework, informational papers from the school, and communication from the teacher. Your child may also have resources in this binder that will help them with their homework. Your child should read at least 4 nights a week (a minimum of 20 minutes each night). A reading log is in the Homework packet sent home every Monday. Reading homework expectations may change as the year progresses. Your child will also be responsible for completing Math and Spelling homework. Spelling tests will be given on Fridays. Homework may change depending on the academic needs of the students.

Afternoon Dismissal If you or a family member are picking up your child you will need to have your sign with your student’s name provided by the office. If you need a replacement sign please visit the office. If you forget your sign you will have to go to the office to show identification and can check out your student at that time. Car riders will be on the Northside of the school (neighborhood entrance) unless they have a younger sibling. Parent Walkers will be on the Northside near the side door entrance

Attendance Attendance is important for your child’s success. All absences needs to have a parent or doctor’s note Students are responsible for making up any missed work If a child is sent home sick with a fever, please keep them home for a full 24 hours.

Field Trips Our first field trip is September 27th. If you have not sent in the permission slip or money, please do so. We are hoping to have 1 field trip a month. No child will be excluded from a field trip due to the inability to pay the fee for the field trip.
