Fixed vs Growth Mindset

Information About High School Each course is 90 minutes (some exceptions). An entire year’s worth of curriculum is condensed into one semester. Grades/Recommendations get you into the classes you want and colleges pay close attention to the classes you take! Honors vs Academic level courses A/B gets you into Honors C or lower gets you into Regular courses Not just about the grade- work ethic? Personal responsibility?

Possible Pitfalls Attitude Distractions Motivation (or lack thereof) Fixed or Growth Mindset? Distractions Technology, home life, friend situations, etc. Motivation (or lack thereof) Why do now what I can always do tomorrow?

Snapchat Bathroom Indecent exposure Friends taunting/teasing Took a pic of someone using bathroom That’s illegal! Indecent exposure Shared around grade Friends taunting/teasing Girls took pic of group and intentionally left someone out but snapchatted it to that person That’s mean! Mean people suck

Rules to live by Do Something! Get involved- join a team, club, after school program, get a part time job, babysit, etc. Show appreciation for those who help you Ask questions if you need help! Don’t assume you know everything
