Rho Gamma Application Process Recruitment 2019

The “WHY” behind Rho Gamma Being a Rho Gamma is about laying down your letters to care for the women looking to find theirs. It’s about empathy and selflessness, and it takes perspective and compassion. It’s about realizing what a privilege it is to walk with women through one of the most pivotal weeks they could experience as Virginia Tech students. Being a Rho Gamma isn’t about getting out of recruitment… it’s about leaving a legacy that extends far beyond recruitment.

Application Steps Applications due: February 22nd by 5:00 PM 1 digital copy emailed to the Director of Recruitment Guides and Retention, Kathryn Thompson, at vtrhogamma@gmail.com. 1 hard copy turned in to the box in the FSL office (New Hall West, Suite 117) Application must include: Forms filled out completely and correctly Resume Recommendation form from either your chapter president or advisor Affirmation of good standing form from your chapter president *both forms have been sent to your chapter president, but double check to make sure she turns them in before the deadline Returning Rho Gammas – make sure you fill out the returner application! In order to apply to be a Rho Gamma, you must have recruited for at least one year. A cumulative GPA of 2.6 is needed to apply, and you must maintain the cumulative average throughout the Rho Gamma process. Your resume must be sent in with your application, and your Chapter President or Advisor must email Briana a recommendation and affirmation of good standing form on your behalf Returning Rho Gammas must email Briana for their application process. Applications will be due February 22nd by 5 PM as well, and a recommendation is also needed.

Timeline You will be emailed by Sunday, February 25th in regards to whether or not you have been selected for a group interview If you are offered a group interview, a google sheet to sign up for interview times will be attached Group interviews will be the week of February 26th Individual interviews will be the week of March 12th All notifications regarding interview selections will be done via email Once the applications are submitted and reviewed by the Panhellenic Council, applicants will be invited to a potential group interview that will be held the week of February 26th. Once group interviews take place, applicants will be reviewed and invited to individual interviews that will take place the week of March 12th.

Additional Information 3 credit online course (LDRS 2014) with weekly recitations on Mondays from 5:00-6:30 pm You must participate in recruitment as a chapter member before applying to be a Rho Gamma You MUST be willing to do what it takes to fully disassociate from your chapter Talk to women in your chapter who have been Rho Gammas about their experience Being a Rho Gamma will have a retention aspect included this year, so be prepared to sustain relationships with PNMs even after the end of formal recruitment (FRIENDSHIPS YAY!) Anyone can BE a Rho Gamma, but a good Rho Gamma is aware and enthusiastic about the potential impact she can and will make

Important Points to Remember! Being a Rho Gamma entails giving up a lot. Before applying, there are many aspects of the role that may be frustrating and should be considered: Time commitment with online course and weekly meetings Disassociation (including no communication with chapter women during recruitment week) Removing yourself from social media Not being as active in your chapter’s fall philanthropy/outreach events Etc. BUT, being a Rho Gamma has the potential to be one of the most rewarding things you do as a college student. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Briana Hila at vtrhogamma@gmail.com. Thank you!
