October Reading and Writing: We are finishing up our Compare and Contrast Essays and are moving on to our second Module. Our main focus is on comparing and contrasting different characters while providing evidence. Report cards come home 10/18! Homework: Students should be reading at least 30 minutes EVERY night! Reading responses should also be completed after reading 30 minutes. These are collected every Monday from the prior week’s work! (3 sentences reflecting students thoughts on their reading) Students received new planners where they will be focusing on different virtues throughout the year. Students receive or lose dojo points for getting these signed by families. Module 2: Text: Phantom Tollbooth students will analyze figurative language (Play on Words). Writing: Narrative Writing (setting, characters, developing conflict, plot, and theme) Upcoming Events: Walk to school day 10/3 Half day and Conferences 10/18 No School 10/19 Math Night 11/8 Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Making a difference, Ms. Kuhl (579-3665)
