Roman Cultural Influences on Constantinople -As in Rome, a Senate house, public baths, triumphal arches, columns, arenas, and statues reflected the wealth and glory of the empire. -Spectacular public buildings and magnificent monuments inspired civic pride. -Constantinople reflected everything that was glorious about ancient Rome. Therefore, it reflected its design, architecture, and monuments. -Residents of Constantinople lived in poor conditions like the Romans. -The inhabitants of Constantinople considered themselves Roman.
