Please take out your rough copy, your topic blast and your outline. Please Do Now Do you need to print? See me NOW! Please take out your rough copy, your topic blast and your outline. Also, take out 4 colored pencils or pens. There are some in the bin if needed.

Please Do Next Let’s go for a spin…The first and third seats should spin to form groups of four.

Are you hooked? Underline your hook in blue. Now, read/revise your hook as needed. It should NOT be a question.

Vote Share and choose the one hook from the group that you will share with the class. When sharing, share the chosen topic and the hook.

Underline your thesis in red. Underline the strong language. Circle the topic. Underline the strong language.

Now, introducing… Underline the one or two sentences with background information in your first paragraph.

All in its proper place… Check for three separate paragraphs. No subtitles! Indented?

TS’s Check: Do you have a topic sentence at the start of paragraphs 2, 3, and 4? Underline the topic sentences in orange. Circle a transition in each. Circle the feature or the topic in each. Repeat with all three TS’s. Share or double check with ONE person in the group.

Transitions… Check for transitions in each paragraph. Underline/circle the transitions in purple or blue. Do thry make sense?

Just the facts… Pass your paper to the right. Details, details, details… check for details in the middle paragraphs. Does it make sense? Is it in logical order? Are there level three details? Draw a question mark in the margin where you have a question or see a gap in details. Pass it again! Repeat!

Easily Confused Words Take out and check the list as you check for those words.

The end or the last paragraph! Underline the importance of your topic in purple. Does it make you think, feel, or inspire you to do something?

One more time! Read your essay to yourself. Revise or edit as needed. Make sure you have all of your papers
