About Mr. Xiong This is my 9th year teaching. I absolutely love math and hopes to spread that joy to all my students so they can also be successful in the subject while exploring careers related to math. Some of my favorite hobbies are, fishing, hiking, and anything new that one can enjoy in the outdoors, especially with my friends, family, and loved ones This year we welcome our newest family member-baby Emmett Xiong born Dec 30th.

Assessment Formative Summative Assessment FOR Learning Occur during the unit to help students identify strengths and weaknesses Examples: Homework & Quizzes Assessment OF Learning Occur at the end of the unit to identify what concepts the student has mastered Examples: Tests & Final Exams

Weighted Grades 10% formative 55% test 35% final exam

Tests Tests are passed back and reviewed in class Tests are then collected and kept on file Tests will not be sent home with students. Students can receive one on one feedback during advisory or tutoring times. If your student has a tutor, then I can provide the tutor with specific topics and sample problems that relate to your child's areas of weakness.

Tests There will be no Test Retakes However those students that score lower than a 70% may do test corrections to increase their test score. Requirements are : Have all assignments turn in Do corrections during flex time

Learning Targets Statements written in student friendly language that clearly explain what the teacher expects his/her students to know. Help students identify strengths and weaknesses. Learning targets empower students to take ownership and responsibility of their own learning!!!

Practice Makes Perfect Expect Daily Homework/homework quizzes. Check Website or Learning Target Sheet Students who study throughout the chapter are more successful on assessments.

Late Homework Late work will be accepted until the unit test and must be turned in with your notebook. Late homework will receive half credit.
