Self Worth Check-Up Results 40 – 50 You’re on the high road. Keep it up! 30 – 39 You’re straddling the high and low roads. Move to higher ground. 10 – 29 You’re on the low road. Pay special attention to this lesson.

The Social Mirror The social mirror is: The Social Mirror - what others say about you (image) - based on comparisons to others - external - comes from the media - where you are today The Social Mirror

Problems with the Social Mirror It is unrealistic. The media has sold everyone a lie that looks are everything. It is always changing. If your self-worth comes from other’s opinions you’ll never feel stable because opinions, fads, and fashions are always changing.

What does this mean? “At age 20, we worry about what others think of us. At age 40, we don't care what they think of us. At age 60, we discover they haven't been thinking of us at all.” - Ann Landers

The True Mirror The true mirror is: The True Mirror - the real you - based on your personal best - internal - comes from conscience and self awareness - your potential The True Mirror

The Key Stone In Rome, strong arches were built and ultimately held together with the keystone. Without the keystone, the arch would fall.

The Self Worth Arch of Triumph Take 5 minutes to draw this diagram in your notes.

Integrity Doing the right thing when no one else is even looking. “Don’t worry so much about your self-esteem; worry more about your character. Integrity is its own reward.” – Dr. Laura Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other a time when you showed integrity.

Service Service to others not only makes the ones you serve feel better, but makes you feel great too. “Service is like wetting your pants. Everyone can see what you’ve done, but only you can feel the warmth”. - Unknown Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other a time when you served others.

Faith Faith is believing in something you can’t see (i.e. God, others, hard work, etc.) “Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.” - Hebrews 11:1 Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other a time when you had faith in someone or something.

Physical Health Clear your mind (i.e. yoga, meditation, breathing, prayer, etc.) Exercise your heart (i.e. power walk, sports, bicycling, etc.) Eat healthy Rest Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other how you take care of your physical health.

Accomplishments Set SMART goals (specific, measureable, achievable, realistic, and time bound) and accomplish them. Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other your most significant accomplishment(s).

Talents and Skills Everyone is born with talents and skills Use your skills and talents and share them with others Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other a particular talent or skill that you have. How do you share it with others?

Keystone: Smart Decisions The keystone hold all of the other “stones” in place Without smart decisions, the other six areas (stones) of your life are affected Discussion: With a small group, take 2 minutes to share out with each other some smart decisions that you have made in the last month.
