The learning commons

The Learning Commons The Learning Commons was created with student success in mind. The area is collaborative, with whiteboard tables, whiteboards, computers, and tables with dual screens and the ability to hook up a computer. The Learning Commons contains three separate departments: the MultiMedia Commons, the Writers’ Center, and PLUS tutoring.

MultiMedia Commons The MMC consults with students and faculty on multi-media projects. Access a computer lab of Macs with the full Adobe CC suite, Microsoft Office 2016, and other similar and helpful programs. The MMC also offers color laser printing, poster printing, and photo quality printing. https://sites.ewu.edu/it/services/com puter-labs/mmc-multimedia- commons-policies/

Writers’ Center The Writers' Center staff collaborates with writers at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to polishing final drafts. Writers are encouraged to bring all types of writing or specialized communication formats, both course-related and personal, including: Academic Essays Research Projects Posters, Presentations & Speeches Multimedia Projects Scholarships & Resumes Creative Writing During a 50-minute session, Responders and writers work together to create an individualized experience, which emphasizes the writer's needs and goals. In addition to individual face-to-face sessions, the Writers' Center offers Zoom and Online Response sessions.

PLUS • PLUS stands for Program Leading to University Success. • PLUS offers FREE peer-led study groups and individual tutoring sessions for EWU students in Cheney, Spokane, and online. • On average, students who attend five or more PLUS sessions have a .50 higher course grade compared to their peers who did not attend. • PLUS employs approximately 100 student positions each quarter. If you have a 3.3 or higher GPA in both a course and as an overall GPA, please consider working as a peer tutor and/or facilitator!
