Crowns 2 Timothy 4:8

Crown Of Righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8) A Christian is one who is born again (Jn. 3:3, 5) It is the word that causes one to be born again (1 Peter 1:23) A person thusly born will do righteousness (1 Jn. 3:7) It is only by God’s grace we are taught how to live righteously (Titus 2:12)

Crown Of Life (James 1:12; Rev. 2:10) Both of these verses show a need to persevere when in times of trial and tribulation The problems of this life may seem to be great but are only temporary (Eccl. 2:11; James 4:14) We are to look beyond this life to the greater things in store (Matt. 6:19-21)

Crown Of Rejoicing (1 Thess. 2:19) What do Christians have to rejoice about? There is joy over the sinner who repents (Lk. 15:7) There was joy in Samaria (Acts 8:18) and in Gaza (Acts 8:39) because of obedience to the gospel Christians should be joyous over the blessings & promises of God (Acts 11:23)

Incorruptible Crown (1 Cor. 9:25) We live in a sports saturated culture, NTL, we understand that success by any person or team comes directly from hard work, repetition of practice, sacrifice, etc. (1 Cor. 9:25) The Christian is to strive for the mastery of faith through hard work in study, repetition of practice, sacrifice, etc.

The Christian must run his race with patience (Heb. 12:1) Along the way will come many occasions to hinder success (Gal. 5:7) The Christian continues as a faithful endurance runner who realizes that the prize is not in the starter’s pistol, but at the finish line

Crown Of Glory(1 Peter 5:4) In the context Peter is addressing elders—their work and example to the local church (1 Peter 5:1-3) There are elders who are faithful, unassuming, godly, sacrificing leaders of God’s heritage will receive a great reward. How good it is to know of churches where there are scriptural elders performing their duties. The wearing of this crown is determined by how WELL one has served as an elder in the Lord’s church
