Welcome to CC6 Math Mrs. Anjuli Johnston johnstona@issaquah.wednet.edu Half-slips of paper are for you to leave me any questions you may have. Please be sure to leave me a name and e-mail to contact you if need be. Please drop it in the bin on my desk on your way out.

Who is Teaching Your Child Math? Anjuli Johnston- Issaquah HS grad Gonzaga University 8th year teaching in Issaquah I love 6th grade because it is the chance to build confidence for a positive math future LOVES: running, crafts, fitness, cooking, my dog Mya Math lends itself to many “lightbulb” moments...the best part of my job

Math Website Parent / Student Survey Please do NOT try to become a member Stamp sheet with homework Homework Answer Key Completed Classwork Lesson Videos http://bit.ly/pcmsCC6 (capitalization MATTERS!)

What is in a Math Grade? 20% Homework Complete, Checked and Corrected No late work is accepted after the unit test 80% Assessments Students demonstrating the standards they have mastered “I need to study for a math test???” No ”surprises”: students will know exactly what is on tests Test corrections...they will need your help Please become familiar with checking grades as a family in Family Access (Skyward)...I update grades at least weekly

More About Homework ***Please do not allow your child to spend more than 30 min. on their math homework a night! How to Help: Encourage your child to look through their classwork…we likely solved a similar problem together in class. Watch the lesson video from the website. Google it! Khan Academy

Learning Checks: How Am I Doing? Formative Assessment = NO COUNT Self Assessment Got IT! Not YET....Now What??? Make a plan Watch lesson videos Review class work and homework Get help from an adult or friend Make an appointment with my teacher

Getting Help Get Help EARLY Learning Checks Test Reviews I am available before school just about daily, especially on Wednesdays- make an appointment After school by appointment starting in November

Have a GREAT night. Thanks for being here! Questions? Please use the half-slips of paper for questions you may have. Please leave an email address and name (yours AND your child’s) so I can get back to you! Have a GREAT night. Thanks for being here!
