Key Questions When do you use different chart types?   How do you insert a chart into Microsoft Excel? How do you edit and label a chart in Microsoft Excel?

Line Chart A chart consisting of a line that connects different points that a plotted on the graph. You use a line chart when you are comparing data over time.

Bar Chart A graph consisting of parallel bars or rectangles with lengths proportional to the frequency with which specified quantities occur in a set of data. You use a bar chart when you are comparing multiple data sets next to each other.

Pie Chart A circular chart having radii dividing the circle into sectors proportional in angle and area to the relative size of the quantities represented. A pie chart is used to show fractions of a whole or percentages

Column Chart This chart displays information as a set of vertical bars that are grouped by category. Like a bar chart, you use a column graph when you are comparing multiple data sets next to each other.
