Forestry Mr. Brock

Forestry In Alabama Alabama’s last untouched forest was used in the 1930’s. However timber is the states number one natural resource today. It is also one of the best sources of prosperity in the state. From now on trees must be grown and managed in order to be efficient and profitable.

Forests in Alabama Forests are a renewable natural resource that have tremendous untapped potential. Could be used for soil stability, forage, fish and wildlife, recreation, and noise abatement in addition to timber. However 75% of the states forests are owned by private owners and are only producing about half of their potential.

Other Uses Foraging Fish and Wildlife

Other Uses Recreation

Other Uses Soil Anchoring

Management Plan The owner must goals for his woodland and then must develop a plan to achieve those goals at a cost he can afford. Improving the timber stand is usually a good investment and ca provide a return to finance other projects like wildlife habitat and forest roads.

Management Plan The plan can be very simple, listing the objectives and a timetable, but it should include a detailed map of the area and an inventory of the tree species and sizes.
