Chapter 5 Legislative Branch

How many senators are there? (total and from each state) Total 100, two from each state.

When does a bill become a law? Once the president signs it

The members of the House of Representatives does not need to have… Prior experience in government

To become a member of the senate you do not need to be… A citizen of the U.S. your entire life

The house of representatives and the senate meet together What is a joint session? The house of representatives and the senate meet together

According to the Code of Conduct, what must a Senator do? Limit the amount of outside income they earn and give full disclosure of their financial holdings

Who is the most powerful officer in the House of Representatives? The Speaker of the House

What does impeachment mean? To accuse an officeholder

So someone is still there that knows what is going on Why is the Senate organized with 1/3rd of its membership being up for election ever 2 years? So someone is still there that knows what is going on
