A Fisherman’s point of view \\\ Two Visions of Fishing A Fisherman’s point of view \\\

Two visions Fisherman’s view Intergenerational change in the fishing Industry Healthy coastal communities/healthy eco-systems Strong stewards for the coast Reconciliations with first nations Vibrant small boat fleet and support industries Increased food security Those who work in the fishery reap the benefits Investors view Maximize return on investment Most economic benefits going to investors not those living and working in Fishery Loss of food security Unhealthy coastal communities Unhealthy coastal eco system Fishing fleet based in Lower Mainland Little intergenerational change in the fishing industry Reconciliation based on lawyers, not communities talking

Fishing

30 years in 1 direction It is time to stop and take a look at where we are in the fishing Industry and how we got here, Then we need to look at where we want to go and what are the steps to get there

A Choice But it can not do both The Fishing Industry can either provide food, healthy communities and a healthy ecosystem or Returns to investors But it can not do both
