Global Cement and Concrete Association London, UK Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) was founded in January 2018 by ten leading companies in the cement and concrete sector … CEMEX, CNBM, CRH, Dangote, EuroCement, HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Taiheiyo, UltraTech, Votorantim By the time of the 23 November Annual General Meeting we will have 32 member companies and nine affiliate national and regional associations

Global Cement and Concrete Association What GCCA offers: Demonstrates responsible industry leadership GCCA will advocate for cement and concrete by emphasising the essential nature of concrete for the wellbeing of society, the innovative aspects of concrete, and the strategic nature of cement, while continuing to be credible in sustainability Global nature enables us to tackle areas that were not necessarily feasible up to now, from financing collaborative projects to demonstrating concrete’s properties, as well as inputting to global bodies like the UN, OECD or WTO Clear focus on key issues for the Cement and Concrete sectors: Concrete positioning Innovation Sustainability

Global Cement and Concrete Association Working Groups and Possible External Stakeholder Panel Will be organised on a workstream / project basis, opportunity for affiliates to be involved at all levels Partnerships Council Grouping of national and regional associations affiliated with the GCCA to ensure coordinated working, strategy, communication Stakeholder Panel Considering formation of a High Level Stakeholder Panel that would engage with the GCCA and provide a form of endorsement and advice on strategic topics

Global Cement and Concrete Association Work Programme Proposed work streams include – Safety & health in the cement & concrete industries Future of construction and the role of concrete Sustainability value of concrete Concrete guidelines Cement best practice and reporting Cement innovation GCCA will take over CSI’s work programme and will take sustainability commitments to the next level

Global Cement and Concrete Association Members & Affiliates Members: Producers of Portland cement clinker and other natural cementitious clinkers for the manufacture of cement. Two categories of Membership; Full & Associate… Affiliates: The GCCA will partner with “Affiliates” who share the GCCA’s mission Will be communication or project partners that will be consulted with and partnered with, as and when relevant, in delivering specific projects aimed at meeting the objectives of the GCCA Regional and National Cement Associations, expanding to other Associations in the construction value chain The GCCA will build on the efforts of National and Regional Associations to develop industry-wide data/statistics and key strategic information and messaging to support the industry communication and advocacy activities

Open questions to the ERMCP Board How will this initiative impact ERMCO? An opportunity to co-operate and strengthen our output? Actively join GCCA working groups/projects and impact output directly? A risk of performing double works/projects? How to succeed with One Voice Global/European? Global vs European priorities? How to organize eventually the link to GCCA? Affiliate Membership Informal? ECP? ERMCO? To address an opinion on that GCCA should perform the support to CSC and FSE? The international topics: ISO standards, Concrete Sustainability labels, …and such Other?
