Weekly Homework Activities Each week Year 1 children receive three pieces of homework. These three pieces of homework are: Reading (the more the better); Spellings (1 set of spellings given per spelling group); Maths (1 piece - often differentiated).
Reading Children take home book banded books to read at home; The more reading the better; Tips to help with reading at home.
Spellings Spellings are given out each Friday; Spellings are given out per phonics group; Each set of spellings will reflect the phase your child is working at and will be based on the sounds they will be learning in phonics next week; Tips to help with spellings at home; Links to other phonics activities you can do at home.
Maths Maths homework is stuck in to homework books each week; Often maths homework is differentiated according to the maths group your child is in; Maths homework will always reflect the area of maths that has been covered in class that week; Maths homework is not supposed to be a challenge, it is a revision task; Tips to help with maths homework. Links to other maths activities you can do at home.
Homework Expectations Our Homework Promises; Homework will be given out every Friday; Please ensure homework is given in by the following Thursday at the latest (if given in after this unfortunately I can not guarantee I will have time to mark it).
KS1 Homework Club! Having trouble finding time at home to complete homework? Finding it hard to encourage your child to complete their homework? Miss Nicholas runs a homework club for KS1 children at 12:45 – 1:15pm every Friday lunchtime. Children from Year 1 are more than welcome to take their homework books and complete their maths homework with Miss Nicholas during this time.
