Presentation transcript:

Fungus-like Protists Multicellular heterotrophs whose cells have cell walls and are capable of moving at some point in their lives Reproduce by spores – a tiny cell that is able to grow into a new cell.

Slime Molds Multicolored Live on forest floor in moist shady places Ooze along the surface of decaying material eating bacteria and other microorganisms Start as amoeba-like cell that move by pseudopodia. Join other cells to form jelly-like mass When conditions are harsh it forms spores

Water molds and Downy Mildews Live in water or moist places Tiny threads that look like fuzz Attack many food crops such as potatoes, corn, grapes Great Potato Famine in Ireland (1845-1846) Destroyed Irish Potato crop Lead to over one million deaths and many others moves to the USA
