EMD INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS (AED’S)

Ventricular Fibrillation (VF) VF is a disturbance in the electrical heart rhythm. Defibrillation is the only definitive treatment for VF.

AEDs EMT defibrillation is standard of care in most communities. However, now available are Automated External Defibrillator: Automated AEDs automatically analyze heart rhythm. AEDs make it possible for lay rescuers to administer life-saving defibrillation.

Goal The goal of this program is to improve survival rates from sudden cardiac death in Seattle-King County by reducing the time to defibrillation by having community responders use AEDs in either a public setting or individual residences of high-risk patients.

Goal- EMD Telecommunicators can now deliver instructions over the phone to callers reporting cardiac arrest in situations where an AED is present. Provide help to RPs who may have forgotten their training Provide help to untrained RPs

AED Instructions Let’s look at one now…
