Subjects Literacy We will be focusing on three main texts this half term in Literacy, all of which link to our History topic: Ug by Raymond Briggs; Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura; Pebble In My Pocket by Meredith Hooper and Chris Coady. The children will utilise these texts to study particular writing styles focusing on instruction texts, and their literary requirements, alongside story writing and structure.

Maths We are looking at four topics over this half term. We start with Place Value and Number looking at: four-digit numbers, ordering and comparisons. We then continue to look at both mental and written Addition and Subtraction studying number facts, word problems and a variety of methods. Finally we finish with topics on measurement (length, mass and volume) and statistics (bar graphs, pictograms and tally charts).

History This half term we are learning all about Prehistoric Britain. Covering the time period from the beginning of the Palaeolithic Period all the way through to the end of the Iron Age the children will learn about lifestyles, societal changes, major events, important structures and archaeological evidence. In order to complete the learning the children will be utilising a variety of investigative skills including research, comparisons and fact finding.

Science Our Science topic this term is Rocks, Fossils and Soils. Throughout the half term we will be performing various investigations in order to learn about different rocks looking at: categories, uses and formations.Alongside this children will discover how both soil and fossils have been formed over thousands of years. Throughout the term the children will be using science skills of experimenting, investigating, predicting and analysing results.

This will include looking at static balances and focusing whilst standing on one leg. Parents please ensure your children have the correct PE kit and appropriate shoes

This will involve the children learning about how to value themselves, remain safe, understand rules and responsibilities, knowing how to behave to others and how choices can affect people, facing new challenges, and seeing other points of view. School has bought in to a new scheme of work
