Galatians The Gospel In The Priority of the Promise Lesson 6 3RD Qtr 2017

Galatians 3:18  For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 

Galatians 3:17  And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was 430 years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.  Sunday

Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: Romans 3:31  Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.  Monday

If ye love me, keep my commandments. Tuesday Galatians 3:24  Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.  Galatians 3:29  And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.  John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Genesis 26:5  Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.  Wednesday Exodus 31:18 And He gave unto Moses, when He had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

“God’s law is a transcript of His character “God’s law is a transcript of His character. It was given to man in the beginning as the standard of obedience. In succeeding ages this law was lost sight of… In course of time the Israelites went into Egypt, where for many years they suffered grievous oppression at the hands of the Egyptians… 8T p207 At Sinai the law was given a second time. In awful grandeur the Lord spoke His precepts and with His own finger engraved the Decalogue upon tables of stone. Passing down through the centuries, we find that there came a time when God’s law must once more be unmistakably revealed as the standard of obedience.”

Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.  Galatians 3:16  ‘Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made;’ Gal 3:19 

Thursday He presented distinctly before them that the sin of Israel was in not heeding the voice of the angel, who was Christ himself. Said he, "This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers, who received the lively oracles to give unto us."3SofP p296.

Genesis 18:13 ,14 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 

God demands of us perfect obedience to His law-- the expression of His character. "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law" Romans 3:31. This law is the echo of God's voice, saying to us, Holier, yes, holier still. Desire the fullness of the grace of Christ; yea, long--hunger and thirst– after righteousness.
