Farming In Ukraine

State Farm Large farms owned by the government. The government pays the people who work on the farms.

Collective Farm The government owns the farm but the pay the people who work on it wages and a share in the farm’s profits.

Farmers in Ukraine still use horse-drawn equipment because they cannot afford tractors.

There are many different types of crops. Wheat Corn Oats Barley Tomatoes Melons Peppers

Ukraine is one of the world’s largest producers of sunflowers Ukraine is one of the world’s largest producers of sunflowers. They are grown for their oil.

Large and small farms raise chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and pigs.

Sheep and goats are raised in the mountains.

In the north Beef cattle are raised.
