Situation: What awareness raising and training activities are undertaken by chemical companies who produce and sell chemicals and those who use them? ABIQUIM has not yet listed the types of activities undertaken by its member companies and of the industry as a hole. However, we know that many companies regularly train their workers, distributors, transporters and customers on how to handle their products.

Atuação Responsável ® Um compromisso da Indústria Química Conclusions 1.There is a long way ahead and the Brazilian industry needs to get more involved with the implementation of the GHS; 2.Regulation and/or voluntary standards must be in place if the GHS is to become a reality in Brazil; 3.Capacity and knowledge within the different industry sectors are needed in other to allow effective hazard classification and communication; 4.The 2008 target is difficult to meet, but industry will implememnt the GHS having in mind the need to keep its competitiveness in the international trade arena.
