Learning Map for Year 5 : Summer 1 2016 Pl Please encourage your child to read each day Homework Alternating Literacy and Numeracy, plus free choice. Set on a Tuesday and collected on the following Monday. Gymnastics – using apparatus to move and balance using different parts of the body. Classic / Narrative Poems – The Highway Man. Reading and analysing the story of The highway Man. Looking at features of text including imagery, personification and metaphors. Digital Literacy and ICT Selecting, using and combining a variety of software linked to science. Athletics Persuasive texts identifying features of persuasive adverts across a range of media. Then creating our own persuasive text. PE Properties and changes of materials – grouping materials dependent on their properties, solids, liquids and gases, reversible and irreversible changes. Carrying out fair tests. English ICT Science Geography Year 5 Old Man River Coasts and Rivers –investigating coasts, how they are affected by erosion. Identifying the different stages as rivers flow towards a coast. Music RE Roman numerals – reading up to 1000 and recognising years written in Roman numerals. The Muslim way of Life Comparing the ways Muslims and Christians learn about their faith and the ways they worship. Keyboards Maths PHSE DT Shape and measure – identify 3D shapes, estimate volume and capacity History Number and place value – count forwards or backwards in steps of powers of 10, through positive and negative numbers. Rounding numbers up to 1000 000.
